Rb Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has explained his controversial comments about those advising Liverpool target Naby Keita.

"I know Naby from the very first day when he came to Salzburg", he said, as reported by the Guardian.

And when told that Liverpool plan on signing Keita in 2018, Hasenhuttl added: "Tell them they will not be the only ones, I think".

Leipzig dug their heels in by reportedly rejecting bids of £57m and £66m from Liverpool for the Guinean midfielder, who played at Arsenal's home stadium in a friendly against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Website 90min is reporting that the 22-year-old Guinea worldwide is being "encouraged" to seek a transfer away from RB Leipzig this summer, with Liverpool looking his most likely destination.

"For us, everyone can see how important Naby Keita is to our game, Emil Forsberg also".

"They are all young players, they will learn a lot this year".

"When you play such a famous season as past year it is normal players get interest, that other clubs are watching us is normal", he said. "They will finish their transfer activities and that is okay for me".

"Until next summer we keep it [the door] closed".
