Jon Jones promises to fight Brock Lesnar after a rematch with Cormier

LAS VEGAS NV- JANUARY 03 Jon Jones celebrates after defeating Daniel Comier during their light heavyweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena

Brock Lesnar has reciprocated Jon Jones' desire of a possible dream fight between the two former UFC champions.

And the 30-year-old, who held the title for five years before being stripped, believes this fight is all about his own story, and not champion Cormier's. Really big for the sport.

You know a card is stacked when the televised prelims feature a trio of fights that could headline a Fight Night card without anyone having any real grounds for objection. "Anytime, anywhere", the former heavyweight champion told the Associated Press.

When Dana White, UFC President, was asked about the issue on Wednesday during the final conference of UFC 214, he said that he has no idea how the fight came from nor when it started.

Lesnar competed at heavyweight in the UFC and spent a period as their champion before focusing all his attentions on WWE again.

Or, maybe after spewing venom at one another for the better part of three years, Cormier and Jones are as exhausted by the spectacle of their bad blood as the rest of us.

Daniel Cormier recognizes the cosmic paradox at the bottom of his bitter rivalry with Jon Jones.

Cormier played off Jones' comments - "That's just Jon being Jon" - and even took umbrage at the word "hatred" being used to describe their rivalry.

That's unfair. It wasn't Cormier's fault that Jones crashed his vehicle and it wasn't Cormier's fault that Jones left the scene. I definitely wouldn't try to wrestle with him the whole time. I think my talent and my brand grew faster than my character and me as a person. "No, not really", he said, "because it's got the potential to go off so I'm not looking forward to that".

We had a discussion in the office and Dr. Bariyu, a comedian and medical doctor had a very different opinion which I had never thought of. I'm glad to be in this position.

'Right now he should be anxious about D.C. on Saturday night'. Talk about a dramatic life cycle for a fighter during his first decade in front of the public eye.

This year has been solid if you're willing to look beyond just the names and pay-per-view numbers, but a struggle in terms of delivering major fights that resonate beyond the MMA bubble. "I believe when I'm having fun, attractive things happen inside of that Octagon".
